Central Yorkshire Scouts – New County Commissioner

Central Yorkshire Scouts – New County Commissioner

I am incredibly pleased to announce that after a somewhat extended search process, Carol Milburn has been appointed to lead Central Yorkshire Scouts as your new County Commissioner.

Many of you will know Carol in her current role as Deputy County Commissioner (Adult Support). Carol has a wealth of Scouting experience and has held many roles in Central Yorkshire including being an Assistant County Commissioner supporting programme for three different sections, District Commissioner of North Leeds, and a Jamboree Unit Leader. Carol has juggled these roles alongside running a Beaver Scout Colony and also brings to the role her professional experience and leadership gained from working in the primary education sector.

Central Yorkshire provides amazing opportunities for young people and like all Counties has some challenging times ahead as we adjust following the Covid-19 pandemic. I am delighted that Carol has accepted the opportunity to lead the County at this uncertain time. I know that Carol will offer you all support, encouragement, and motivation to continue delivering Skills for Life to over 7600 young people.

I would like to thank the dedicated team who supported the search process as well as those who showed an interest in the role.

Carol has agreed to step into the role quickly, starting from the 1st September. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ian Hill for continuing to lead the Central Yorkshire team alongside his Regional Commissioner role over the last year.

I know you will all join me in congratulating Carol and wishing her every success in this important role.

Sam Morris
Deputy Chief Commissioner of England
